POINTS SCHEME

The point’s scheme is an achievement based scheme that rewards athletes for taking part in club and association events and encourages athletes to better their own performance. Points are earned as follows:

  1. For each event an athlete competes in, 2 points are awarded. The recording sheets are used to determine if an athlete has competed in an event so it is important that these be completed. If an athlete starts an event but is unable to complete it, 2 points are still awarded providing this has been noted on the sheet (DNF-Did Not Finish).
  2. An athlete competing in 3 or more events at a meeting will be awarded a further 10 attendance points.
  3. An athlete who achieves a personal best (PB) in any event will be awarded an additional 10 points. PBs do not carry over from the previous season and are initially established at the first performance of each season.
  4. Points are not awarded for walks.
  5. Double event and attendance points will be awarded to any athlete who competes in the following Association events; Interclub Region 3, Personal Best Day and State Multi Event.
  6. If an athlete is unable to attend a Western Athletics Club meeting, he/she may compete at another club. Their results will need to be verified by that club’s recorder and passed onto the Western Athletics Club recorder. Athletes will be awarded attendance and event points; PB points will not be awarded on these occasions.
